Finding the right balance of healthy and kid friendly without getting boring in your child’s lunch can be exhausting. Factoring in any dietary restrictions to accommodate your child’s chronic condition, allergy, or specific diet can make it even more of a challenge, however, we’re here to help with plenty of recipes and ways to make lunch preparation fun.
Make Lunch Prep Fun
Half the battle of packing a lunch for your child is figuring out what they will and won’t eat. Involving your kids in the process can make the task more enjoyable for you both. Let your child help you pick out their lunch box, reusable container and fun ice packs like these from Pottery Barn kids. If they’re excited about the presentation, chances are they’re excited about the food inside too. Review recipes together, brainstorm new ideas, use cookie cutters to make different shapes out of fruit, sandwiches, etc. and even work together to pack lunches at night for smoother morning routines .
Different Lunches for Different Diets
An additional challenge for parents of children with a chronic illness, specific diet or allergy is finding things they like that also fit their diet. We’ve rounded up several links below for inspiration that might be a good fit for your child and their specialized need.
