The days leading up to Christmas can be go, go, go despite our best intentions to relax and enjoy the season. If your last couple of weeks have taken their toll, you’re not alone. Use our tips to recover.
#1: Get Back On Track with Your Health
If you’ve slipped on your chronic illness health plan, there’s no time like the present to get back on track. Getting back on your medication routine and scheduling an infusion if you’re late for one is the first step toward recovering. If you’ve suffered a flare-up, then making time to recover is even more important.
#2: Get Some Exercise
It can be hard to fit in a workout during the holidays. Re-prioritize your workouts by scheduling them on your calendar. Commit to attending a yoga class, schedule in a jog, or even take in the neighborhood lights with an evening walk.
#3: Leave the Clean-Up
Cleaning up all the chaos immediately after prepping for the holidays won’t help you recover more quickly. The mess isn’t going anywhere, so give yourself a break. If you can assign some tasks to other folks, then do so! If not, then take the cleaning slow. No need to overwhelm yourself while trying to recover.
#4: Get a Good Night’s Sleep to Recover
If you’ve been burning the candle at both ends, then make sure you get a good night’s sleep. Sleep helps your brain and body recover, so it’s vital to get to bed at a decent hour.
#5: Make Time for Memories
The holidays shouldn’t be all about completing a task list anymore than the days following the holidays should be. Take some time to take stock of the year you’ve had, the things you’ve enjoyed, and the goals you’ve accomplished.
